Can the shelves be changed to stock canned drinks instead of wine bottles?
The shelves are removable so you can do so in order to fit the cans subjective to their size.

Will this cooler take champagne sized bottles if so how many, please?
It depends on the size of the bottles. The internal dimensions (W x D x H) are 215 x 435 x 650mm, and can fit 20 bottles based on standard 75cl wine bottles.
